-Knitting-Tiberius the Unicorn

IT'S TIBERIUS! (Yes, as in James Tiberius Kirk. /geek)

This is a unicorn foal that I reverse-engineered from a few photos of a similar project. The "pattern" was translated from French (not by me), and consisted mostly of several pictures and directions on what order to make the parts in. There were no numbers or shaping directions or anything. So I guess it was mostly made up from my head!

Tiberius is knit from two plies of a white four-ply worsted weight yarn, on US 2 (2.75 mm) double-points. He has 20-gauge jewelry wire running from head to tail and in each of his legs, making him completely poseable. His mane, tail, and hoof feathers are hand wigged using single plies of the yarn, as well as another, more shimmery yarn - a process that took me probably 10 hours to complete!

He's stuffed with fiberfill, but I plan to add some pellets to his legs and belly to give him more substance. The horn is some crochet cotton dug from the bottom of my stash that has a metallic gold strand. His facial details are hand-embroidered, and the bridle is completely removable (though I have to bend the horn a little). All told, he measures 5.5 in/12.5 cm at the shoulder and 7.5 in/19 cm overall.

While Tiberius is NOT for sale, I will certainly take commissions on similar poseable horses/unicorns! They will run $30 not including shipping. All creations come from a smoke-free home. I do have a dog, but he stays away from my stuff and does not come back to college with me, and everything gets washed when I finish it anyway.
